Featured Events Taking Place In Vermont This Weekend Friday 30th, Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August 2010
Killington Music Festival
Killington, Vermont
June 20th to July 30th
Killington Music Festival
Killington Music Festival, a non-for-profit organization, is the only resident professional classical music organization in central Vermont. Each summer about 100 students gather at Killington from institutions such as the Juilliard School of Music, Boston Conservatory, The New England Conservatory, The Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Eastman School of Music and the University of Arizona. These musicians come to the area to play chamber music and to teach string students. Performances by the faculty and invited guest artists have made the Festival a mainstay of summer culture in the region. The young musicians who attend the Killington Residency Program are graduate, college and talented high school students. Many of our students, as well as many alumni, are members of chamber groups and orchestras in the United States as well as in other countries.
Vermont's Festival of the islands
Grand Isle County
July 30th to August 1st
On the last weekend in July the five towns of the Champlain Islands, Alburgh, Isle LaMotte, North Hero, Grand Isle and South Hero will be hosting the Festival of the Islands. Numerous events in each town are designed to entertain our visitors and to present the best of the Islands. Adults will enjoy concerts, flea markets, special retail events, wine tours and tastings, farm stands, yard sales, community meals - all set within the beautiful Champlain Islands. The children will love visiting our petting paddocks and seeing llamas and alpacas, having a picnic on a free admission day at Knight Point State Park, tasting our delicious Island Ice Cream, or seeing a puppet show. The phrase "something for everyone" was never truer. Maps listing times and locations of special events will be available .
Deerfield Valley Blueberry Festival
Mount Snow Valley
July 30th to August 8th
Deerfield Valley Blueberry Festival
The 2010 Deerfield Valley Blueberry Festival is the culmination of a community effort coordinated by Janet Boyd from Boyd Family Farm in Wilmington and the Mount Snow Valley Chamber of Commerce in which dozens of businesses, organizations and individuals have created blueberry or blue themed events happening the first ten days of August.
“It’s fun, it’s silly, and something everyone can take part in,” Boyd says of the event.
Visitors to the Valley will find a Big Blue Parade, a Blue Street Fair, children’s activities, jam making, blueberry themed specials in the local eateries, blue music events, a blue car auto show, blueberry bake sales, blue beer, special “Blues fees” at Mount Snow’s Golf Course as well as pick your own blueberry opportunities.
Don’t miss Boyd Farm's “Fields of Blue” public art display. Inspired by Christo and Jean-Claude’s Central Park orange canvas display “The Gates”; Vermont farmers Janet and Buck Boyd’s display of blue tarps in their fields will have you chuckling..
