Sounds and Sights Festival
2010’s Sounds and Sights Festival is an annual event in Chelsea, Michigan.
It started over three decades ago as series of
sidewalk vendors but has since become a summer highlight that draws visitors
across the state and nationally. The two-day,
three-night event features live music and social tent, children’s entertainment
and activities, a classic car show, open-air art

Great Lakes Compassion Club Music Fest
The 1st Great Lakes Compassion Club Music Fest is being held at the Willow Ranch
in Lacota, Michigan between July 30th
and August 1st. Guest speakers are listed on the homepage, and a variety of
bands will be performing on stage. The camp
sites do not have electricity or running water, but the Willow Ranch does have
restrooms and showers, and there are hotels and
cabins within a ten mile radius of the Fest.

Taking place in Mattson Lower Harbor Park, Art on the Rocks is overlooking Lake
Superior. The art on display will be a
variety of prints, drawing, pastels, fiber, glass, basketry, wood, ceramics,
oil paintings, metal and sculpture. This year’s artists

There is no overnight camping
in the park, but reservations are available from the Tourist Park on Sugar Loaf
Avenue. Other tourist information is available

Midland Folk Music Festival Midland, Michigan August 26th to August 29th Midland Folk Music Festival
The FOLK MUSIC SOCIETY of Midland is hosting a Gathering of Folk musicians, Traditional dancers and Folk Music enthusiasts at the Midland County Fairgrounds, 6905 Eastman Rd., Midland, MI on August 26-29, 2010 (Thursday noon – Sunday noon). Admission fees are $7.00 per person or $20 per family for all four days. Camping sites are available at the Fairgrounds for $17.00 per night with electricity.
The Folk Music Society invites musicians of all levels, from beginners to advanced, to bring their acoustic instruments and join the festivities at the annual MIDLAND FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL. There will be lots of jamming and open stage opportunities all weekend.
On Friday night, the Midland Traditional Dancers will instruct and lead dancers of all levels in a lively FREE evening of contra dancing.
Over 70 workshops are included with the price of admission and will be held on Friday and Saturday for Banjo, Guitar, Fiddle, Bass, Mandolin, Dobro, Autoharp, Hurdy Gurdy, Concertina, Ukelele, Whistle, Hammered Dulcimer,
Mountain Dulcimer, Dance and Performance!!
The Saturday afternoon and evening Stage Shows are always a highlight of the weekend!! The event concludes on Sunday after a morning “Gospel Music” Stage Show.
The MIDLAND FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL is a complete “folk music experience” and is an opportunity to enjoy some wonderful music with other musicians and dancers from near and far in a safe, family-friendly environment. Audience members are always welcome.
