The Bristol Renaissance Faire
The Bristol Renaissance Faire can show you the period’s knightly manners
and society, and is set in Elizabeth I’s reign. It lasts
for nine weekends, and will have a variety of activities to look at, with games,
rides, arts, crafts, food, music and characters.
Among others, you will meet the knights and minstrels that accompany Robin Hood
and Queen Elizabeth. And you can buy the
potters’, glass blowers’, jewelers’ and forgers’ wares,
as well as a range of jewelry, porcelain, pottery and leather ware,
hickory walking sticks, rich tapestries to hammered pewter in the market.

The Ottawa Riverfest will be celebrating with a Founder’s Day Picnic at
lunchtime on Tuesday, July 27th, as well as a Lion’s
Bags tournament. This will be followed, on Wednesday, by the Welcomeburger Picnic,
Iron Horse Carriage Rides and
Wilson’s Carnival. Continuing events will lead to sidewalk sales, a fishing
rodeo, Taste of Ottawa, book sales, carriage rides,
an agricultural day, Art in the Park, a flea market, martial arts, the Ottawa
Teen Idol competition and Sunday’s Riverfest

will be free parking for about three hundred vehicles. The parade takes place
at noon on Sunday and is joined by the

Roberts will be playing. Both day’s events start at 11am.

You can learn about the ancient arts of spinning, weaving, dyeing, knitting,
crocheting, and hear everything on fiber producing
animals and plants at the Chaplin Creek Fiber Fair. There will be workshops
on felting, dyeing roving and yarn, spinning and
spindling. The Fair’s vendors will offer raw and washed fleeces, prepared
natural and dyed roving, as well as mill spun and

Very close to Chaplin’s Creek will be Franklin Grove’s Summer Harvest
Festival. Now in its 31st year it is a celebration of the
area’s cultural heritage, with a wide range of activities and events for
its visitors. Taking place at the same time as Chaplin’s
Creek’s Fiber Fair, the Summer Harvest will give people an opportunity
to see the village’s yard sales, take part in tours of the
H.I. Lincoln Building, the Franklin Grove Art Festival and the Living History
Antique Equipment Show. There will be a parade,
and tours of the Franklin Creek Grist Mill and Nachusa Grasslands. You will
be able to see a draft horse parade, an obstacle
course, the farmers race/log pull and demonstrations of harnessing and hitching.
Bluegrass and folk music is provided, and
displays of muzzle-loading and spear throwing are given. Demonstrations of 19th
Century Prairie village blacksmiths, spinning,
basketmaking, quilting and carvers are on site. A map and directions are available.

The Fair’s primary events will be the Open, 4-H and Junior Show’s
livestock auction, shows and awards, as well as its horse
show. Tertiary events will be a chain saw art auction, demolition derby, tractor
pulls and parades, the McHenry County Queen
and bingo. 4-H’s Nightly Activities will include a 21 Tractor Salute to
Veterans, Grelvis, Dirty Deeds and Hans and the
Hormones. A map of the fairgrounds, and of the areas around Woodstock are available.

From its modest beginning five years ago, Veggie Fest has grown into a huge community event. Naperville mayor George Pradal cut the ribbon at Veggie Fest to kick things off last year. On the hottest weekend of the summer, 17,000 people came out to join the fun. Featuring well over 100 vendor booths, Veggie Fest expects 20,000 people this August, making it the largest free vegetarian food festival in the country.

We have a Ham & Bean festival to raise money. We have crafters and entertainment. Come spend the day in the park.Music starts at 11:00 am and goes until 7:00 pm. Our groups this year are: Old As Dirt from 11:00 am til 1:00 pm, Rich Selquist from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm then we will bring on Ernie Givens and the White Lies Band from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the music. We will be serving ham and beans with cornbread, grilled tenderloins, Brats, hot dogs and salads along with desserts.You will not leave hungry.
